The Glen at Lafayette Hill

The Glen is a multi-family housing complex including construction and full sitework. Phase One included 139 units.

Project also included the renovation of on site existing buildings for Senior Life Care’s Corporate Offices.

Mount Saint Vincent Home

After three years of planning and soliciting the aid of subcontractors and suppliers, three new wood framed buildings were added to this children’s home, school and day treatment center.

Each new building contains 12 sleeping rooms, a kitchen, parlor, a central living area with high clerestory windows, a restroom, office space and 2 quiet rooms.

The use of multi-colored finishes creates a warm atmosphere.  All drywall  partitions in the quiet rooms were constructed of impact resistant drywall, backed by 1/2” plywood.

A large number of firms joined the Saunders team in constructing the campus, i.e. 3 electrical contractors, 3 plumbing contractors, etc., which significantly increased our coordination role.  All told, over $800,000 of the $1.2 million project was donated in time and materials for this project.

Cobb Building Apartments

This historic 11-story Downtown building was converted into 92 high-end apartments. Each home includes granite kitchen counters with oak cabinets and stainless appliances. Cherry bathroom vanities feature stainless pedestal legs and custom-beveled mirrors. Sliding “barn doors” separate living rooms from bedrooms. An addition in the back of the building added floor area and formed a spine for the seismic upgrade. Lewis renovated a ground floor bank in advance of the main project, which remained open during construction.

River Street Plaza

As part of the Illinois River Edge Redevelopment Initiative, Krusinski Construction Company was hired to complete the first of four mixed use structures offering 48 condominiums and eight retail units. Backed by the river, the site offered limited access or room for maneuvering. To solve the problem, a logistics plan was initiated that scheduled when materials could be delivered, where they could be stored and which crew could work in what part of the building. As a result, the building was completed within the 12-month schedule.

Metropolitan at Midtown

A neglected neighborhood is given new life through the completion of the ambitious mixed-use project, Metropolitan at Midtown.  Choate Construction’s efforts turned an abandoned 14-acre site of Charlotte’s first enclosed mall into a thriving center creating a truly unique live-work-play atmosphere. This expansive project, located in the blighted neighborhood of Mecklenburg County, involves three phases and includes a 231,000 SF Class A office tower with an attached 1,500 space parking deck, a 16 story condominium tower, and a 70,000 SF retail center.

Choate is also proud to announce the US Green Building Council awarded LEED Silver Certification on Midtown Building B, exemplifying continued commitment to sustainable building practices.
