Biltmore Village is a pedestrian friendly district at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, North Carolina, located adjacent to the world-famous Biltmore Estate tourist attraction. This development features world-class shopping, offices, and a parking garage. The building structure is structural steel with concrete composite slabs with light gauge metal and stud walls. Pebbledash stucco, mansard roofing, and extensive tudor style exterior trim make up the building envelope. Special features include a continuous front elevation brick paver balcony accented by ornamental exterior railings and architectural louvers.
Choate Construction performs the stunning office offering much-needed space for the ever-expanding Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This 100,000-SF headquarter office provides room to consolidate multiple branches into a single facility.
FAA pushed the normal limits of tilt wall with its four story height and maximized openings; both the tilt and steel erection were staged and coordinated perfectly with each other.
In addition to extensive security and back-up systems, high-end finishes such as thick-set honed and polished Walker Zanger tile, Natural Birch Pecan wood paneling, and a custom glass feature wall make this building an impressive home for the FAA.
As Kennesaw State University enrollment continues to rise, so do construction projects on campus. Choate Construction builds their trendsetting student dining hall, 917-bed student living facility, massive precast central parking deck, soccer stadium, and sports and recreation complex.
Choate converted this existing office and warehouse space into a cutting-edge television studio for the nationally televised, “Good Eats” cooking show featuring Alton Brown. Features include an extensive production and test kitchen designed by Alton Brown, culinary instruction area for corporate or consumer events, editing suite, sound engineered partitions and doors, a set production shop, corporate offices, an exercise facility, and a walk-in freezer/cooler.
Nestled inside one of Colorado’s premier resorts, The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center is a place that will stimulate your senses, renew your spirit, and relax your soul. The Spa at The Inverness is a 8,540 sf, full service amenity spa and salon. Saunders performed a complete demolition and renovation of the existing spa. The extensive and high-end finishes included alder wood for all trim, millwork and doors, mosaic tile, granite countertops, and natural stone flooring. The exterior spa was repaired and remodeled to coordinate with the new interior finishes. A stone fireplace and relaxing seating areas create an outdoor retreat. Construction was completed while the Hotel was occupied and operational. Sound proof separation walls were used to isolate construction noise as well as maintain a dust-free environment. The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center is frequented by high level dignitaries and special consideration and scheduling was necessary for guests such as the Dali Lama and the President of the United States.
Burnett Womack Clinical Sciences Building was a long-awaited project for the UNC Medical School. This renovation of a 9-story building in Chapel Hill’s campus houses new research laboratories, a BSL3 laboratory, clinical space, radiation science, new office space, and a full mechanical floor.
