Chemours Discovery Hub

IMC broke ground on a 312,000-square-foot research facility for Chemours on Dec. 18th.  The $150 million Chemours Discovery Hub will be constructed on the University of Delaware’s Science Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus in Newark, Delaware.

The Discovery Hub will go up on a 15-acre site in the southeast corner of the STAR campus, consolidating laboratories and offices for approximately 330 scientists, engineers, and researchers who will be relocated from Chemours’ New Castle County facilities. The Hub will include more than 100 labs, fifty specialty rooms, cafes, conference rooms and twenty “huddle” rooms for small group meetings. The four-story building will be complete in early 2020.

Penn Medicine Center for Healthcare Technology

Located on Civic Center Boulevard in West Philadelphia, IMC is serving as the design-builder for Penn Medicine’s new Center for Healthcare Technology. The new non-clinical tower will serve Penn Medicine’s corporate functions and house daycare for employees, information technology and human resources.

The first phase of construction is ten-stories and 305,000 square feet. A second phase will potentially add 9 more stories.

As a critical function to the support of the tremendous research that occurs within Penn Medicine, an Investigational Drug Study (IDS) Pharmacy will be housed to provide investigational drugs to and through the Penn Medicine Health System. The building will also house a Freezer Farm to promote collaboration among researchers for their samples as well as their data use in large clinical studies that move modern medicine forward.

Due to the tight setting, and the logistical constraints of working within the boundaries of three busy streets in University City, the project took months of preconstruction planning, modeling, prefabrication, and site phasing prior to the start of construction.

King of Prussia Mall Expansion

Simon Property Group, Inc. selected IMC as the construction manager for the expansion of King of Prussia Mall, the nation’s second largest shopping mall. The ambitious expansion connects the existing independent court and plaza sections of the mall, which were previously divided by parking.

The King of Prussia Mall expansion offers over 70 new retailers in a 155,000-square-foot elevated link that allows shoppers to traverse the entire length of the mall without having to exit the facility. An upscale dining pavilion, customer lounge, and new parking deck are components of the project. The main corridor includes floor-to-ceiling windows, seating areas with device-charging stations, a concierge-level guest services counter, and other amenities. The new parking garage features space-location technology. Construction was undertaken in multiple phases with detailed protection/logistics plans to keep the mall open and operational during the two-year construction period.

The expansion was named the ACE Mentor Program Eastern Pennsylvania 2016 Suburban Project of the Year for its design and construction collaboration and teamwork and a Best Real Estate Deal of 2016 by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Network Operations Center (NOC) included the renovation of the 45,000-square-foot facility to accommodate over 370 employees. The new space has four employee collaboration areas, training rooms, conference rooms and a full cafe with smaller pantries throughout the space.
The existing call center cabling, wires and infrastructure had to be traced, identified and relocated to accommodate the new open exposed ceilings throughout the space without interfering with the day to day operations.
