Biltmore Village

Biltmore Village is a pedestrian friendly district at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, North Carolina, located adjacent to the world-famous Biltmore Estate tourist attraction. This development features world-class shopping, offices, and a parking garage. The building structure is structural steel with concrete composite slabs with light gauge metal and stud walls. Pebbledash stucco, mansard roofing, and extensive tudor style exterior trim make up the building envelope. Special features include a continuous front elevation brick paver balcony accented by ornamental exterior railings and architectural louvers.

Be Square Productions

Choate converted this existing office and warehouse space into a cutting-edge television studio for the nationally televised, “Good Eats” cooking show featuring Alton Brown. Features include an extensive production and test kitchen designed by Alton Brown, culinary instruction area for corporate or consumer events, editing suite, sound engineered partitions and doors, a set production shop, corporate offices, an exercise facility, and a walk-in freezer/cooler.

The Shops at Legacy

The Shops at Legacy is an upscale, mixed-use development of retail shops, office buildings and residential units at the busy intersection of Legacy Road and Dallas Parkway. Rogers-O’Brien completed the phased construction of the shell and interior finish out of various retail, office and restaurants, as well as five parking garages totaling approximately 345,000 square feet.

Since The Shops at Legacy were operational when Rogers-O’Brien began work, the team worked diligently with the development team and retail store owners to implement a construction approach that did not disturb their business or the flow of traffic within the busy mixed-use development.

Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Ctr

SIMT is the premiere technical service provider and training facility for industry in the southeastern portion of the United States. The 18,000 SF Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) and associated sitework includes special features such as fiber optic, networking and computer hardware training labs, four breakout session rooms, an executive briefing center and the campus data center. The key focus of the AMC is to provide training via simulation facilities that will link engineering to manufacturing technology as well as training and application of the latest computer technologies. Winning the Southeast Construction’s “Best of ’07” awards and a prestigious Eagle Award by the ABC Carolinas, SIMT is a truly remarkable cutting-edge facility

Texas Regional Medical Center

This full-service hospital houses emergency department, a surgery wing, heart cath-lab, full diagnostics department containing MRI, CT-scanner, and general radiology, intensive care unit, patient beds, as well as laboratory, pharmacy, chapel and a full service cafeteria.

Burnett Womack Clinical Sciences Laboratory Building

Burnett Womack Clinical Sciences Building was a long-awaited project for the UNC Medical School. This renovation of a 9-story building in Chapel Hill’s campus houses new research laboratories, a BSL3 laboratory, clinical space, radiation science, new office space, and a full mechanical floor.
