The Women’s Tower Expansion is part of a multi-phase renovation and expansion at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas consisting of a six-story, 129,000 SF tower with tie-ins to eight floors of the existing building. The new tower includes 32 new post-partum rooms, three new nurse stations, two new nurseries and all the auxiliary rooms to support a fully functioning Women’s Center. 44,175 SF of renovation work includes four C-Section operation rooms, recovery rooms, waiting rooms, a new nursery and several new nurse stations throughout the second floor. Challenges to the project included the restrictions created by a tight, heavily sloped site situated between two fully operational facilities – a full-service hospital with 24-hour emergency room and helipad and a medical office building.
Rogers-O’Brien received an ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle Award and an AGC Outstanding Construction Award-Bldg 4 for outstanding work on this project.
